While not completely faithful to the short story (but then again, what
Big Steve movie is?), "1408" (the movie) retains the all-important
"creep" factor. I'm a lifelong fan of the horror movie, and can look
at vampires and gore all day long without flinching. "1408" has got to
be one of the best Big Steve adaptations to make it to the Silver
Screen. As far as "creepiness" goes, it's right up there with "The
Changeling".

The producers of "1408" (the movie) did a great job of adding to the
short story without changing the basic premise. They had to flesh out
the film (because who would pay 9 dollars to see a 20-minute movie?),
and the added storyline is something a Big Steve fan should be
comfortable with. (forgive me for ending a sentence with a
preposition). "Lawnmower Man", anyone?

The scene where Enslin spies his reflection across the way really made
me jump.

Discuss.
