Death of Lily Cavanaugh

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I just now finally got around
to reading Black House and there seems to be contradictory information about
the death of Jack Sawyer's mother.

In Black House, it is stated that Lily died not so long before the events of
this book (certainly after Jack was grown) and that she died from a relapse
of the cancer she had in The Talisman.

In The Tommyknockers, although he is not actually mentioned by name, it is
assumed that the boy on the beach is Jack Sawyer, just a few years after the
events of The Talisman. He says that his mother has recently been killed by
a drunk driver.

Are we supposed to take it that it was not Jack after all in The
Tommyknockers, or is this simply a case of King having forgotten that he
wrote that bit?

TOMMYKNOCKERS is supposed to take place in 1988...

THE TALISMAN takes place in 1981, seven years before THE TOMMYKNOCKERS...

How could the 12 years old boy from THE TALISMAN still be a young boy seven
years laters ?

THE TOMMYKNOCKERS must definitely be an alternate reality.

THE TOMMYKNOCKERS must definitely be an alternate reality.
No one has established it's the same kid. It's been something we've been
worrying over for years without a clear answer.

Have a great day!

Peter Straub has said on this newsgroup that he never thought the Jack of
TOMMYKNOCKERS was Jack Sawyer.

I have not seen him. Interesting, I guess I missed it. I should read here
more often.

Or maybe he was here before I started reading here.

Neat!

DM
could have been discussed when Peter used to visit alt.books.peter-straub .
I do remember receiving quite a few emails from him about 6 or 7 years ago
when I was a reg on that newsgroup. He's a very nice man from the emails and
responses I'd read.

He's been here several times. A couple years ago, he was almost a
regular.

Have a great day!

Straub doesn't do definitive for me ;-). Hey, I'm not a Straub fan, but
I *am* a King fan. Yeah, I know Straub wrote half of both books, but
that ain't why I bought 'em.

Have a great day!
